Rocky Mountain Classical Academy

Rocky Mountain Classical Academy is a public charter school in Colorado Springs, CO near Peterson AFB. This is a K-8 school with a homeschool option for grades K-12. It is located 15-20 minutes from base.

Students in the K-8 program attend a traditional 5 day school program. The curriculum follows the classical learning philosophy, with content integrated across subjects and with a focus on the arts. The homeschool program is open to students in all districts in grades K-12. There is a one day a week program available at the campus to supplement their studies.

Great Schools rates this school 7/10. In 2014-2015, the students in grades 3-8 averaged a 38.6% rate of proficiency in language arts. In math for the same year, they averaged a 34.3% rate of proficiency in math across all tested grades. These are low/low average test scores. The community has given this school 3/5 stars. Some parents comment on the quality of the school. Several reviews do note that the school’s quality has declined over the years and with expansion.
